We’re delighted that things are gathering pace on our climate conversations project – and we can finally reveal the four partners we’ll be working with to pilot our climate conversations training over the next 3 months! Here they are:
Grapevine is a charity that strengthens people, sparks action and shifts power across services in Coventry and Warwickshire. Its team of community organisers equips citizens with the skills and confidence they need to act on what they care about.
It supports the community on a number of different issues including a recent partnership with the University of Warwick on air quality and supporting the grassroots climate project Coventry Urban Eden.
Grapevine members value their community and are keen to engage more people and local decision makers in conversations about how they can combat climate change in their area.
UNISON: the public service union is one of the largest unions in the UK, with 1.2 million members, nearly 80% of whom are women, who work predominantly in public services, including local government, education and health.
It has a growing network of regional climate champions and established the role of Environmental Officer in its branches in June 2022.
Unison members are keen to work with their employers to enhance their response to climate change and to engage their colleagues in climate action.
Tearfund is a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than fifty of the world’s poorest countries. It tackles poverty through sustainable development, responding to disasters and challenging injustice.
It strengthens UK and global movements of churches and Christian organisations in order to help transform societies, economies and public policies and practices – with a focus on climate change and plastic waste.
Tearfund encourages individuals and churches to take action that is rooted in their faith and the teachings of the Bible.
Parents for Future is the largest parent-led climate justice movement in the UK with a network of 25,000 supporters. Formed in 2019 by a small group of mums, the aim was to inspire and engage more adults to join in the youth climate strikes.
The fast-growing movement now campaigns to bring about big changes to our systems, from energy production to law, as well as developing local actions and networks so families can make an impact and build resilience within their communities.
Parents for Future holds a radically supportive community where parents and carers can connect and learn about actions and solutions, while acting in solidarity with the families most impacted by the climate crisis across the world.
What’s next
Training events and programmes with all partners will begin this month and run through to December.
We feel incredibly privileged to be working alongside people with so much collective experience and wisdom. We can’t wait to get started!
